Water Cycle WebQuest

INTRODUCTION:Raindrop:
Did you ever wonder what makes raindrops or where it goes after it hits the ground?

TASK:
Your quest is to find out what happens to water when it falls from the sky. You will read an Internet book and visit the US Geological Service web site to learn about the Water Cycle. Finally, you will explain the water cycle in your own words.

PROCESS:

    1. Go to the following Internet site and read The Many Adventures of Drippy the Raindrop

    2. Open Student Writing Center (SWC).

    3. Type the following at the top of the page: Water Cycle WebQuest

    4. Press ENTER and type your name(s). Press ENTER two times.

    5. Click on the following link to the US Geological Service

    6. Copy the water cycle graphic and paste it into SWC. (right click on the graphic, left click on Copy)

    7. Copy the URL and paste it below the Water Cycle graphic. (right click on the URL, left click on Copy)

    8. In SWC, below the Water Cycle graphic, write a definition for the following words: Condensation Evaporation Precipitation Use the Water Science Glossary of Terms from the US Geological Service to help you:

    9. Write a paragraph explaining the water cycle. Tell how water gets into the atmosphere. Tell how water returns to land and the ocean. Be sure to use the three words you defined in question #8.

EVALUATION
Your classroom teacher wants a printout of your work. After you have completed all of the above tasks and checked for spelling errors, get permission to print your paper.

CONCLUSION:
Do you suppose water ever disappears from the earth? Could you be drinking the same water the dinosaurs drank?
