In Boy Scouts there are 7 ranks that can be earned:

  1. Scout
  2. Tenderfoot
  3. Second Class
  4. First Class
  5. Star
  6. Life
  7. Eagle (also see the notes and Eagle Project Ideas)

After a Scout has completed the requirements for a rank, and has them signed off in their Scout Book, they must set up a Board of Review. At least 2 adults attend the Board of Review, and they make sure that the Scout has completed the requirements and also make sure that the Scout understands the concepts and skills required for that rank.

During the Board of Review, the adults will ask the Scout questions from the appropriate review form:

  1. Scout (no Board of Review required)
  2. Tenderfoot
  3. Second Class
  4. First Class
  5. Star
  6. Life

The Eagle Board of Review is different. The adults may ask any of the questions on the Life review form, but normally focus instead on questions that will reveal the character of the Scout.
