The Future of The World Is Nuts!(TM)
|
Hello Scott,
Sounds great! There isn't really anything special you need to bring. Just keep in mind we'll be out in the sun (or maybe rain, like this morning), and dealing at times with tall grass, thistles, and rough ground. There are also some non-nut-picking chores that go with harvest, so some work gloves would probably be a good idea too.
Children are certainly welcome! We'll put them to work. Elly (who is "three and a HALF") is often with us and picks the occasional nut. They will need to be able to deal with the field like you, and probably the prospect of peeing in the bushes.
There is no hotel in Canton, but there is a place in Harmony that we recommend if you can get it; reasonably priced, pleasant, close, and they know where we are (mention that you're visiting Badgersett Farm when you check in). http://www.countrylodgeinnharmonymn.com/
If that doesn't suit you there are motels in Decorah and probably Chatfield, both considerably farther away though. Visitors are of course always welcome to camp; just be warned that there won't be showers or a toilet available.
